BT Ireland discusses mobile piggyback deal

6 Mar 2006

According to the UK Sunday Times newspaper, BT Ireland is in advanced talks with a number of Irish mobile network operators over a piggyback deal that would allow it to launch as the fifth player in the market. The two favourites for the MVNO deal are Smart Telecom, which is embroiled in a dispute with ComReg over its 3G licence, and Hutchison’s 3 Ireland. Both operators have contracted BT Ireland to help them build out their networks.
