Slovak Telekom’s turnover drops 4.9%

3 Mar 2006

Yearly revenues at Slovakia’s dominant fixed line telco Slovak Telecom decreased 4.9% in 2005 to SKK16.01 billion (USD519 million), mainly due to a 15% year-on-year drop in fixed line voice turnover to SKK9.578 billion. The drop was only partially offset by higher sales from data and internet services. Internet revenues for the year increased 77% to SKK595 million while data business grew 11% to SKK2.16 billion. An SKK885 million Antitrust Office fine was imposed on the company in the period under review for abusing its market dominance, and as a consequence, EBITDA fell 13% to SKK6.684 billion. Telekom reported annual net profit of SKK1.995 billion (USD65 million).
