ntl and Telewest shareholders approve merger

The shareholders of UK cablecos ntl and Telewest have voted overwhelmingly in support of the merger of the two companies. Investors holding approximately 99% of the shares at both companies have approved the merger, the pair said in a statement. Current ntl shareholders will own approximately 75% of the combined company with Telewest investors taking the remainder. The deal is expected to close within the next few days.
