MTC to upgrade to HSDPA in Bahrain

3 Mar 2006

MTC-Vodafone Bahrain plans to deploy HSDPA technology in 2006 to increase its mobile data speeds. Kuwait-based parent company MTC-Vodafone was awarded Bahrain’s second GSM licence in April 2003, which included a 3G concession, and it launched commercial W-CDMA services across the island in December 2004. The cellco had 202,000 GSM subscribers at the end of last year, 87% of which were pre-paid users.
