3 Mar 2006

Saudi data services provider Integrated Telecom Co (ITC) has signed a deal to supply a WiMAX broadband wireless network to the local offices of US micro-electronics firm Intel. The rollout of the network, based on 802.16-2004 technology which operates in the 3.5GHz band, has already begun. Intel’s offices in Riyadh will be linked via WiMAX to the backbone network of Saudi ISP Nesma Internet. Intel is one of the main suppliers of WiMAX chips and is keen to promote the new technology.
