BT to offer 8Mbps broadband

UK fixed line incumbent BT Group has revealed plans to launch retail and wholesale broadband at speeds of up to 8Mbps nationwide from 31 March, following successful trials of the service. The telco says it is upgrading 5,300 exchanges serving over 99.6% of UK businesses and homes to enable higher-speed broadband. At present BT’s wholesale broadband is limited to speeds of 2Mbps.
