Polkomtel profit jumps 16%

2 Mar 2006

Polish cellco Polkomtel has announced that its net profit for the year ended 31 December 2005 rose by 16% to PLN1.07 billion (EUR282 million), up from PLN924 million in 2004. Full year revenues climbed 13% to PLN6.5 billion. The company declined to specify exact subscriber numbers, saying only that it exceeded the nine million mark in early December. Polkomtel’s ownership is currently the source of much debate, with Vodafone announcing earlier this week that it had filed a request with a Warsaw court to stop a transfer of shares by Denmark’s TDC.
