MDC subscriber base tops two million mark

Belarusian GSM network operator Mobile Digital Communications (MDC) had two million subscribers as of 1 March, up from 1.885 million at the start of the year and 1.135 million in January 2005. The cellco, which offers GSM-900/1800 services under the brand name Velcom, was founded in 1998 and is owned by the government (30.9%), SB Telecom of Cyprus (49%), Beltechexport (20%) and Beltelecom (0.1%).
