Ericsson bags a brace

Swedish equipment supplier Ericsson has been awarded HSDPA 3G upgrade contracts by 3 Italy and Swisscom Mobile of Switzerland. The financial details of the deals were not revealed. HSDPA technology offers peak data transmission speeds of 14.4Mbps on W-CDMA 3G networks, with normal speeds comparable to fixed broadband technologies such as ADSL, more than double the speeds available on conventional W-CDMA 3G systems.
