VolgaTelecom’s NSS earmarks USD23 million for regional development

Russian regional GSM operator Nizhegorodskaya Sotovaya Svyaz (NSS), part of VolgaTelecom, plans to invest USD23 million this year in expanding its capacity and coverage, improving call quality and expanding its value added services range. NSS’ planned new services include an EDGE mobile data platform and OTA technology which will enable its users to modify the content of SIM cards. NSS provides GSM-900/1800 services in Nizhny Novgorod and the surrounding area; it had 1.044 million subscribers at the end of December 2005, or around 40% of its regional market.
