Azerphone to launch in August

20 Feb 2006

Newcomer Azerphone has revealed that it plans to launch mobile services in August this year. The cellco, which won its GSM concession last month, said it will have an initial capacity of between 50,000 and 100,000. It has not revealed any tariffs, but is expected to offer lower prices than existing mobile operators Azercell and Bakcell. Azerphone revealed earlier this year that it would invest USD300 million in the build out of its network and hopes to achieve 85% coverage of the territory by 2008.
