17 Feb 2006

Ecuadorian fixed line telco Pacifictel is aiming to install 150,000 new connections in 2006, and is hoping that fixed-wireless rollouts will help it achieve a target of USD320 million turnover this year. The company is focusing on fixed-wireless technology to bring down its operational costs and minimise cable theft. The telco is also undertaking mass redundancies, with a planned 1,000 employees, around a third of its workforce, facing the axe.
