16 Feb 2006

French telecoms group neuf Cegetel is reported by the Financial Times to be planning what could be one of this year’s largest IPOs, which could value the company at EUR3 billion. According to the report, the company is holding a beauty contest of investment banks to handle the flotation, with Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse all touted as possibles. neuf Cegetel shareholders include Louis Dreyfus and wireless operator SFR, which both have 28% stakes, as well as Belgacom, Telecom Italia and a clutch of private equity groups. Both Belgacom and SFR are believed to be interested in increasing their stakes in neuf Cegetel, but are reported to have accepted that other shareholders are determined to push ahead with an IPO.
