Vodafone and Huawei team up for 3G handsets

UK-based mobile group Vodafone has signed a five-year deal with Huawei Technologies which will see the Chinese vendor supplying exclusive Vodafone-branded 3G mobile handsets for the group’s businesses in 21 countries. Vodafone says it will begin offering the first Huawei-manufactured 3G handset in September 2006. Neither side disclosed the scale of the order or any pricing details. The deal marks Huawei ’s first significant entry into the European handset market.
