Peru’s private investment promotion agency ProInversion has launched a tender for a fixed wireless access (FWA) licence covering Lima and Callao. The tender is for two 25MHz blocks in the 3400MHz to 3600MHz band; the winner will have a twenty year monopoly on the spectrum. The minimum bid amount will be announced on 17 March, when the final version of the tender terms and conditions are made public. Bidders are required to possess a telecoms service licence either in Peru or elsewhere and must demonstrate a minimum of USD500,000 in annual revenues. The tender will be supervised by telecoms regulator Osiptel. Americatel and Telmex are expected to participate.
