Orange to launch HSDPA in 2H 2006

15 Feb 2006

France-based mobile operator Orange says it plans to launch so-called ‘3.5G’ mobile services for business users in France and the UK in the second half of 2006, with consumer services following in early 2007 at the latest. Didier Quillot, head of Orange France, said the introduction of high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) services would be dependent on the availability of handsets. HSDPA offers five times more bandwidth than existing 3G technology, rolled out at the end of 2004 to offer TV, music and photos on handsets.
