Telecom Italia has announced that it intends to invest between EUR60 million and EUR70 million on a high speed technology upgrade for its mobile networks. The firm plans to upgrade its W-CDMA 3G networks with high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) technology to give maximum data transmission speeds of 4Mbps. The new technology will be launched in May in Rome, Turin and Milan, and will eventually cover around 50% of Italy.
