Chunghwa aims for million 3G customers by year end

Chunghwa Telecom has revealed it hopes to increase its 3G customer base from the current 300,000 to a million during the course of 2006. In the six months since the company launched 3G services, Chunghwa has reported 3G ARPU of TWD1,305 (USD40.31), compared to TWD733 for its 2G network. The company currently has a total of 7.84 million subscribers. As part of the strategy, the company aims to reduce the price of a 3G handset from NTS10,000 (USD309) to NTS6,000 (USD185) by the third quarter.
