Be to expand broadband network

14 Feb 2006

New UK internet service provider Be says it is expanding its network by investing in local loop unbundling (LLU) in 90 new exchanges, including sites outside of London for the first time. Be says that it will have LLU in 156 exchanges by May, including sites in Birmingham and Manchester, as well as the capital.

Be is a sister company to fledgling Swedish broadband provider Bostream (now owned by Swedish rival Bredbandsbolget). It launched broadband services late last year, offering downloads of up to 24Mbps through a combination of LLU and ADSL2+ technology. It has yet to divulge how many users it has signed up.
