ETC launches first wholesale internet service

13 Feb 2006

The Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC) has launched wholesale dial-up internet services for the first time. Rather than offering the service at a fixed price, the telco says companies offering wholesale dial-up will receive a standard commission payment for each user they sign up as well as 14% to 22% of subscriber income, with the remainder going to ETC. In October 2005 the incumbent operator introduced Ethiopia’s first ADSL service.
