CCK deregisters 30 ISPs

13 Feb 2006

The Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) has deregistered 30 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country because they failed to meet the 31 January deadline for submitting their audit report, a requirement for them to be issued with modified ISP licences. The new concessions enable ISPs to provide voice over IP (VoIP) services. The Director of CCK, John Waweru, declined to name the remiss operators, but said new licences had now been issued to five ISPs, Wananchi Online, UUNET, Skyweb Technologies Ltd, Interconnect and Africa one ISP Ltd.
