Ancel wants 725,000 users by 2007

According to reports in local newspapers, Uruguayan mobile operator Ancel has announced that it wants to sign up 725,000 subscribers by the end of 2006, up from its current customer base of 610,000. The company said it will implement a number of new services during this year including payment through mobile handsets, and also plans to reduce tariffs by up to 20%. In order to maintain the quality of service, it also said it would invest around USD17.3 million in expanding its reach, and will cover all medium and small towns across the country by the end of the year.
