Maxis’ Indonesian subsidiary to lease dark fibre

10 Feb 2006

PT Natrindo Telepon Selular (NTS), the Indonesian subsidiary of Malaysian telco Maxis Communications, is expected to spend IDR100 million (USD10.82 million) in the next ten years to lease dark fibre networks. To this end the company has already signed a letter of intent with fibre network service provider PT Broadband Multimedia (BM). Maxis says the tie-up will enable NTS to implement plans for the expansion and deployment of mobile services. BM’s dark fibre network covers most of the areas where NTS’s 2G and 3G networks are located, and its infrastructure covers 70% of NTS’s planned transmission hubs, writes The New Straits Times Press.
