HSDPA comes to Kuwait

9 Feb 2006

Wataniya Telecom has launched the Middle East’s first advanced 3G mobile network employing high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) technology. The move to HSDPA was carried out by way of a software upgrade on Wataniya’s existing WCDMA 3G networks. All of the telco’s 3G systems have been supplied by Nokia. Wataniya claims around 40% of the Kuwaiti mobile market, where it competes with MTC-Vodafone.
