America Movil reports bumper 4Q and year

Latin American wireless group America Movil added 9.7 million new customers to its ranks in the last quarter of 2005 to take its total to 93.3 million. The total number of net additions for the year was a stunning 32.2 million, giving a 52.7% growth rate year-on-year. Total revenues for the year were MXP182 billion, up 30.8% compared to 2004, while EBITDA was MXP55 billion, a 26.8% increase over 43.5 billion in 2004. Full year net profits grew 85.4% to MXP31.6 billion compared to MXP17 billion in 2004. The company revealed that in 2006 it anticipates capital expenditure of USD3 billion, some USD500 million less than in 2005. Much of the money will be channelled into the migration of its newly acquired Chilean asset Smartcom from CDMA to GSM.
