Hutch puts in offer for Movistar Spectrum

The Argentine arm of Hong Kong-based Hutchison Telecommunications has entered a bid for the 42.5MHz of spectrum that is expected to be returned to authorities by mobile operator Movistar Argentina. A group of Argentine telephony cooperatives and cellco CTI Movil have also entered bids for the spectrum. Movistar Argentina was required to return 10MHz of spectrum in both north and south Argentina by the end of 2005 and must return additional 10MHz in Buenos Aires before 30 July 2006, with the final part of its spectrum required to be returned by December 2008.
