FT/Canal Plus offload Ypso cable assets to Cinven/Altice

France Télécom (FT) and Vivendi Universal’s Canal Plus have each sold their 20% stakes in cable operator Ypso Holding to the investment fund Cinven and cableco Altice. Ypso was established in 2005 as a holding company to amalgamate each of the two groups’ cable businesses. The holding firm sold off its cable network operations to Cinven and Altice in March 2005 in a deal that earned FT and Canal Plus a net gain of EUR528 million. No financial details of the latest transaction were disclosed.
