Tele2 ups stake in Lipetsk Mobile to 100%

Swedish telecoms group Tele2 has increased its stake in Russia’s Lipetsk Mobile to 100% by purchasing a 5.9% stake from CenterTelecom. In November 2005 Tele2 purchased a 94% stake in Lipetsk from US-owned MCT Corp. Tele2’s newly consolidated asset provides mobile services in the Lipetsk Region. Last week CenterTelecom sold Tele2 its 30% stake in Belgorod Mobile Communications and a 40% stake in Smolensk Mobile Communications. CenterTelecom retains controlling stakes in a number of fixed line operators in the Central Federal District; its largest shareholder is Svyazinvest.
