MTNL launches mobile line tender

State-run Indian telco MTNL has opened a global tender for a contract to supply two million new 2G and 3G mobile lines. The contract, worth around INR7.5 billion (USD170 million), will be split into two phases: phase one will provide for the installation of 750,000 GSM and 250,000 UMTS lines, whilst phase two will supply a million lines split equally between 2G and 3G. The scope of the contract includes the planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commission of the entire network.
