OTA says LLU ‘well under way’

6 Feb 2006

UK competition regulator, the Office of the Telecoms Adjudicator (OTA), says that the number of unbundled local loop (ULL) lines in the country reached 250,000 in January. The OTA reports that following the inception of BT Openreach, bulk migration to ULL lines is ‘well under way’, though it says there have been initial teething problems with Openreach’s plan, build & backhaul processes. Despite this, it says it expects to see between two to three million ULL lines by the end of 2006.
