6 Feb 2006

NEC Corporation’s French unit, NEC France, has won an order for a video streaming solution from Bouygues Telecom in France. The solution, based on PacketVideo Network Solutions technology, will enable Bouygues Telecom customers to watch live TV on an i-mode-enabled EDGE handset using seamless video-on-demand downloads. The contract covers the delivery of the hardware and software solution as well as system integration, network optimisation on the current i-mode service platform and related after service/maintenance. Video streaming is seen as a key application on Bouygues Telecom’s high speed EDGE network, helping it to differentiate operators’ high speed data services, create new added value and to expand EDGE/3G. Bouygues’s EDGE network covers over 90% of the population.
