Andinatel announces Quito ADSL launch

6 Feb 2006

State-run Ecuadorian telco Andinatel has announced the launch of ADSL broadband services in the country’s capital Quito and the surrounding province of Pichincha. The service, provided through ISP unit Andinanet, provides maximum download speeds of 512kbps and is expected to attract up to 70,000 users by the end of 2006. Andinatel says it intends to upgrade its fixed line infrastructure to support higher transmission speeds in the future, and plans to roll out ADSL lines in additional areas of the country in 2007.
