Two pull out of 3G tender

3 Feb 2006

PT Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (STI) and PT Komselindo, two of the seven firms in contention for 3G licences in Indonesia, have pulled out of the prequalification process. STI said it had decided to withdraw because it would be difficult for it to meet the necessary technical and financial requirements of the tender. The operator will instead focus on its plans for the rollout of its CDMA network and says it will use this in order to provide 3G services. The reason for Komselindo’s decision is unknown.
