Sibirtelecom ups mobile investment

Russian telco Sibirtelecom says it plans to increase spending on mobile services by 60% in 2006 to USD160 million. The investment will be used to increase coverage of EDGE high speed cellular networks and to introduce CDMA2000 systems in selected areas. The company, which is part of the state-controlled Svyazinvest group, operates across Siberia and had just over two million cellular subscribers at the end of 2005.
