CVG wins USD16.8 million government tender ahead of CANTV

3 Feb 2006

Recently-formed Venezuelan state-run telco CVG Telecom has beaten the country’s incumbent fixed line operator CANTV in a tender to build a national network connecting 444 government food markets, according to BNamericas. CVG’s offer to connect the sites at a cost of USD16.8 million substantially undercut CANTV’s bid of USD24.7 million. The project will be funded by Venezuela’s universal telecommunications service fund and is due to be completed by the end of September.
