Huawei and Nortel announce broadband JV

Chinese equipment manufacturer Huawei and Canadian counterpart Nortel Networks have announced the formation of a joint venture to develop high speed broadband equipment. The new company will combine Huawei’s broadband access systems with Nortel’s expertise in voice and broadband networking technologies. The group, to be based in Ottawa, will be majority Canadian-owned and is expected to begin operations later this year.
