Etisalat reports positive 2005 results

UAE fixed and mobile operator Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) has announced its preliminary results for the end-year 2005, reporting revenues of AED12.9 billion (USD3.51 billion), an increase of 23% in twelve months. Net profit rose to AED4.3 billion (USD1.17 billion, up 25%, while earnings per share increased from AED0.94 in 2004 to AED1.17 a year later. Mobile connections grew by 23% to 4.5 million at the end of the year, while fixed lines grew by 4% to 1.2 million. Internet connections, including broadband customers, reached 500,000 at the same date.
