GrameenPhone wants quality and quantity

31 Jan 2006

Bangladesh’s largest cellco GrameenPhone says plans to invest heavily in 2006 to improve its network service quality. Its network covers over 95% of the country and the company spent USD300 million on network expansion last year. It plans to invest almost the same amount this year in an effort to raise its service levels to match its reach. Chief Executive Officer of GrameenPhone Erik Aas told journalists: ‘We have received a lot of complaints that sometimes subscribers fail to get their desired network services due to overloading. Keeping this in mind, we announced 2006 as the “year of quality”, when we will strengthen our network and services in the entire country.’
