Mobile operator DiGi Telecommunications has signed a letter of intent with vendor Siemens to deploy its 3G network if it is successful in its application for an UMTS licence. In November 2005 the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) reported it had received bids for the country’s third 3G licence from three companies. Alongside DiGi, pay-TV operator MiTV Corp and domestic telco TIMEdotCom have both made applications, and the MCMC expects to reveal the winner in February 2006.
