TRA designates 450MHz-470MHz bands for 3G

25 Jan 2006

Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced that it will use spectrum in the 450MHz-470MHz to offer 3G services in the country. The decision means that Oman is the only Arab country which plans to licence 3G services in this spectrum band, with most other 3G services being offered over the 2GHz band. The country’s two mobile operators Oman Mobile and Nawras have both said they will migrate their networks to 3G, although neither has actually applied to the TRA for a licence.
