Poor period at Lucent

25 Jan 2006

The US-based equipment manufacturer Lucent Technologies has reported a USD104 million loss for the fourth quarter of 2005, down from a profit of USD174 million a year earlier. The loss was partly attributed to a USD278 million charge related to a litigation with Winstar Communications. Revenues were also disappointing, registering a 12% fall from USD2.34 billion in the final three months of 2004 to USD2.05 billion in the most recent quarter. The firm’s CEO Patricia Russo remained upbeat, commenting: “We are confident that our revenue performance will be much stronger for the remainder of the year.”
