People to launch ADSL2+ in February

20 Jan 2006

Australian ISP People Telecom has signed an agreement to offer ADSL2+ broadband services over the network of NEXTEP, the wholesale business of NEC Australia. Under the deal NEXTEP will speed up its upgrade of around 100 DSLAMs with ADSL2+ technology, enabling People Telecom to offer broadband services, including VoIP, at speeds of up to 24Mbps from February. Up until now People Telecom has primarily resold the broadband services of incumbent Telstra, limited to download speeds of 1.5Mbps.
