France Télécom reaches 200,000 IPTV subscribers and launches 'Le Bouquet TV'

20 Jan 2006

France Télécom (FT) says it has signed up more than 200,000 IPTV subscribers to its premium phone line-based digital television service MaLigne TV since launching the service in December 2003. The company had 142,000 MaLigne TV customers in France at the end of the third quarter last year, up from 116,000 at the end of June. Buoyed by the strong initial take-up, FT is expanding the offering on 1 February 2006 with the launch of ‘Le Bouquet TV’, a new service offering free access to 30 general and special-interest channels, around 200 freely available DTT channels, and subscription rights to premium content packages from TPS, CanalSat and Canal+. The new ‘Le Bouquet TV’ service will use an MPEG4-standard decoder.
