Belgacom back on the acquisition trail

Belgian incumbent Belgacom is on the hunt for further acquisitions following its takeover of network service provider Telindus, and has its sights set on French alternative fixed line and internet services provider neuf Cegetel, according to La Libre Belgique. Belgacom CEO Didier Bellens told the paper a bid for neuf Cegetel was a definite possibility.

Meanwhile, Belgacom’s mobile unit Proximus is being investigated by the Finance Ministry’s competition regulator following a complaint from rival BASE concerning its ‘pricing strategy for professional client services’. Details have yet to be made available, but Proximus says it will comply fully with the investigation.
