Slovak Telecom’s EUR23.5 million LLU fine upheld

19 Jan 2006

Slovakia’s Antitrust Office has upheld a SKK885 million (EUR23.5 million) fine previously issued to fixed line incumbent Slovak Telecom (ST) for abusing its dominant market position. The penalty was imposed last year due to ST failing to provide local loop access but the telco appealed the verdict. Following the failed appeal, ST has thirty days to pay up. Last week ST revealed that it was planning to cut its workforce by 24% in 2006.
