Optus begins customer transition

19 Jan 2006

Optus Communications has begun shifting its 200,000 plus DSL customers across to its new broadband network in a move which could cost Telstra more than AUD1 billion a year in revenues. By the time the first phase of Optus’ rollout plans are completed in March, the company expects to have an addressable market of in excess of four million homes, roughly half the country’s total. Optus will roll out its equipment to 340 of Telstra’s exchanges, up from today’s total of 23.
