Azerphone wants 85% coverage in two years

Newly licenced cellco Azerphone has revealed plans to achieve coverage of 85% of the country’s territory by 2008. The cellco, which won its GSM concession earlier this month, said it will launch its network in the cities of Baku, Ganja, Mingechevir, Ali Bayramli and Guba by September, with plans to expand to ten more regional centres by the end of 2006. Azerphone has pledged to invest USD300 million in the build out of its network over the next two years.
