3G licensees to be given 10MHz of spectrum

18 Jan 2006

Successful bidders in Indonesia’s forthcoming auction of 3G licences will each receive 10MHz of spectrum, according to local press reports quoting Information Minister Sofyan Djalil. Companies wishing to participate in the tender process will each be required to pay USD5.4 million into a state guarantee fund, which the government will call upon if they fail to meet their rollout targets. Operators will also be expected to make a down payment on their spectrum allocation. The results of the tender are expected to be published by the Communications and Information Ministry on 8 February.
