Matav and Partner fail to agree on merger

Israeli digital cable television operator Matav says that negotiations with mobile operator Partner Communications have ended without a sale being agreed. Matav and two of the country’s other cable operators have been in discussions with shareholders of Partner since October 2005, but failed to agree a deal that would see all four companies merge to take on the might of dominant telco Bezeq Israel Telecom.
