ICTA unveils new price list for IDD calls

17 Jan 2006

The Information & Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) has announced that prices for international calls from Mauritius will drop to less than MUR10/minute (USD0.33/minute) for destinations such as France, Italy, South Africa and the UK. The ICTA agreed the price change following widespread requests from disgruntled users. The country’s main players – Emtel, Mauritius Telecom and Data Communications – put the new prices into force on Saturday, using a new per-second billing system that invoices calls to the second after the first 30 seconds of an IDD call.
